Blue Cave & Elaphiti Islands Group Boat Tour
Our signature morning out — snorkel the Blue Cave on Koločep before the crowds, then swim your way around the Elaphiti Islands on a fast, friendly shared boat.
The Blue Cave & Elaphiti Islands tour is a five-hour shared boat trip from Dubrovnik that snorkels the Blue Cave on Koločep and stops to swim at two or three spots around the Elaphiti archipelago. Groups are capped at 12 guests, departures run every morning from April to October, and the price is fixed per person.
What you'll see and do
- Snorkel inside the electric-blue light of the Blue Cave on Koločep
- Swim and snorkel at the Green Cave and a quiet Lopud bay
- Free snorkelling masks, fins and pool noodles on board
- Cold drinking water and a shaded seat for everyone
- Small group of 12 — no queueing for the cave
- Back in Dubrovnik in time for a late lunch
What the Blue Cave & Elaphiti tour is actually like
This is the trip most people picture when they imagine a day on the Adriatic. You leave the harbour just as Dubrovnik is waking up, run out across flat morning water, and drop anchor at the Blue Cave on Koločep before the bigger boats arrive. Slip in with a mask and the whole cave lights up an impossible shade of blue from below — it is the moment everyone reaches for the camera, then forgets about it and just floats.
From there the day settles into an easy rhythm of swimming and cruising. We snorkel the Green Caves, anchor off a sheltered bay on Lopud, and give you real time in the water at each stop rather than a rushed five minutes. Because we cap the group at twelve, there is always a good seat, some shade and a turn on the swim ladder.
Where you’ll swim
The Elaphiti Islands sit in a string just northwest of Dubrovnik, which is why this stretch of coast is perfect for a half-day out — the swim spots are close together and reliably calm. You’ll snorkel over clear sand and rock where the visibility is often ten metres or more, and your skipper will point out which cove is best on the day’s wind.
If you want to go further and slower, the full-day Elaphiti Islands tour adds Šipan and a long lunch stop, while the sunset cruise is the perfect gentle way to end the day.
Who this tour suits
Couples, families and groups of friends all do well on this one. It is active enough to feel like an adventure but easy enough for kids and nervous swimmers, and the timing leaves your afternoon free for the Old Town. For the back-story on the cave and the islands, our Blue Cave visitor’s guide is worth a read before you go.

Frequently asked questions
Where does the Blue Cave tour leave from?
Departures are from Gruž harbour or the Old Town Port in Dubrovnik. You'll get the exact meeting point and a what3words pin with your confirmation. Both are easy to reach from the cruise terminal, the Old Town and the Lapad hotels.
Is the Blue Cave near Dubrovnik the same as the one in Croatia's Biševo?
No. The famous Biševo Blue Cave is near the island of Vis, a long way up the coast. The Blue Cave we visit is on Koločep in the Elaphiti Islands, just 20 minutes from Dubrovnik — far easier to reach on a half-day tour.
Can children and non-swimmers join?
Yes. Children are welcome with an accompanying adult and we carry life jackets in all sizes. Non-swimmers can stay aboard or use a pool noodle near the boat — the skipper keeps everyone in sight at the swim stops.
What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety comes first. If the sea is too rough for the cave we'll re-route to sheltered swim spots, move you to another day, or refund you in full. We confirm the morning's plan with you the day before.
